How William Hill scores
Welcome offer & terms
William Hill’s headline UK sports promotion is “Bet £10 and Get £30 in Free Bets,” claimed with promo code R30 at sign-up. The official summary terms are short enough to lay out in full:
- New customers using promo code R30 only.
- Minimum £10 stake at minimum odds of 1/2, 1.50 in decimal terms.
- Free bets paid as 3 × £10.
- Free bets credited after settlement of the first qualifying bet.
- Free bets expire 30 days after the qualifying bet is placed.
- Payment method, player and country restrictions apply.
Three details decide what the offer is worth. First, the credit trigger is settlement, not deposit: your first qualifying bet has to run its course before the three £10 tokens appear. Second, the free bets arrive as three separate tokens rather than one £30 balance, so you can stake them individually. And third, the 30-day clock is tied to when the qualifying bet is placed, not to when the free bets land.
The general free-bet rules shape the rest. Per William Hill’s help center, free-bet tokens exclude the stake from winnings, only the profit comes back, cannot be partially redeemed, and are normally valid four days unless the offer states otherwise (R30 states 30 days). They cannot be used on other products such as casino, poker or bingo, and Cash Out is available on free-bet wagers minus the free-bet value. The offer is for new customers only, one per person.
The same landing page also promotes a separate Vegas casino offer: stake £10, get 200 free spins, code WHV200, but it runs on its own terms.
Sports & markets
Ask what William Hill is for and the answer is in its main navigation: football, horse racing, tennis and greyhounds sit at the top of the sportsbook, with golf, boxing, darts, baseball (MLB), ice hockey (NHL) and basketball (WNBA) behind them.
Two features define the football product. Bet Builder assembles custom same-event bets and gets its own recurring Winnings Boost promotion. 2 Up, meanwhile, is the one most bettors ask about: back a team in a qualifying 2 Up market and you are paid as a winner if your side takes a two-goal lead, even if the match then turns. There is also Impact Sub, a player-market protection on selected prop bets, a side of the book our player props guide unpacks.
For racing, the book offers each-way terms and Extra Places, and the heritage is genuine: William Hill’s first business was taking bets on horses by post and telephone, and it still sponsors racing’s big stages: it is the official betting partner of the Randox Grand National Festival, sponsors the County Handicap Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, and put its name to a £500,000 bonus series announced in late 2025. Football gets comparable treatment: since the 2024/25 season it has been title sponsor of all four SPFL divisions in Scotland, alongside a gambling-harm awareness program run across the league’s 42 clubs with EPIC Global Solutions.
The accumulator game is where the book invests most visibly: Acca Boost scales with the size of your bet, 3% on a double, rising as far as 200% once an acca reaches 20 or more legs. Parlay math explains why the top end of that scale is so hard to reach.
Live betting runs alongside the pre-match book: in-play markets cover the same events, Cash Out is available across all sports, and Betting TV streaming is free for eligible customers, with UK, Irish and US horse racing among the covered events. Cash Out typically prices below fair value, our live betting and cash out guide explains why, and our soccer betting guide covers the odds formats you will see here.
Odds & pricing
Pricing at a heritage book like this is about more than the base number, and William Hill’s levers are specific. Acca Boost is the headline: it adds 3% on a double and scales up to 200% on accumulators of 20 or more legs, measured as a boost on the bet. The honest reading: the boost grows fastest exactly where the bet is least likely to win, 20-leg accumulators are extremely hard to land, so the feature does its most useful work on doubles and trebles.
Day-to-day pricing levers come through the promotions calendar: Winnings Boost offers lift selected markets, and Bet Builder Winnings Boost does the same for same-game bets. Boost schedules rotate, so the promotions area is where each day’s offers live, and each promotion’s conditions define exactly how it applies.
Two structural points matter for price comparison. The offer terms quote minimum odds as 1/2, 1.50 in decimal terms, the conversion to remember when comparing prices with US-style books. And 2 Up changes the effective shape of a football bet: a two-goal lead settles your selection as a winner even if the final score goes against you, so the market is priced with that payout scenario included.
The honest summary: what William Hill brings is a set of named, checkable levers, Acca Boost, Winnings Boost, Bet Builder boosts, 2 Up, on a book built around football and racing first.
Payments & payouts
For UK and Irish customers, the payment setup covers the essentials without William Hill adding fees of its own. Deposits are accepted by debit card (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Visa Electron), Apple Pay (UK only), PayPal (UK and Ireland) and Paysafecard, with a £5 minimum. Credit-card deposits have been banned for UK customers since April 2020, though non-UK and Irish customers can still use them. The cap is high: £99,000 per debit-card or Apple Pay transaction.
The headline feature on the withdrawal side is Visa Direct. On compatible cards, withdrawals arrive in up to four hours, 24/7 including weekends. Cards without Visa Direct support take 1–3 business days, PayPal takes about one working day, and bank transfers have a £25 minimum and take 3–5 business days; bank-transfer deposits were discontinued back in March 2022. Skrill is available to non-UK customers only, and Paysafecard withdrawals are processed via bank transfer. The minimum withdrawal is £5.
One recurring cost is worth knowing about before it finds you: £3 per month is charged on Sterling accounts left unused for 13 consecutive months. It is charged on the 28th, after an email or SMS notice and a first attempt to return the balance to your last payment method.

Mobile app
William Hill runs native iOS and Android apps for the sportsbook, published by WHG International Ltd. The store ratings put the sports app on solid ground: 4.67 from about 199,570 ratings on the UK App Store and 4.25 from about 33,045 ratings on Google Play, numbers that describe a mainstream, widely used app rather than a niche one.
The apps carry the whole product: pre-match and in-play markets, Bet Builder, Cash Out, Betting TV streaming and the account tools where the responsible gambling controls live. If your betting happens in-play, the app is where it will happen: the live menus are built around the same events as the desktop site, and your balance, open bets and limits follow the account across devices.
The casino side has its own apps if you use the same login for Vegas: 4.45 from about 20,083 ratings on iOS and 4.45 from 2,910 ratings on Google Play. For a sportsbook-first customer, the number that matters is the sports app’s, and it is one of the stronger scores among UK books of this size.

Licensing & safety
William Hill is about as licensed as a bookmaker gets, and the structure is worth understanding because different companies cover different audiences.
- Great Britain, the sportsbook is operated by WHG (International) Limited, licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission under account number 39225, license number 039225-R-319373-015. The license covers remote casino, bingo, general betting on real and virtual events, pool betting and gambling software, with activities live since 2014.
- Gibraltar, WHG (International) Limited is also licensed by the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner for customers in Great Britain, Jersey, Northern Ireland and Gibraltar, and is a registered I.B.A.S. bookmaker.
- Rest of world, William Hill Global PLC holds Malta Gaming Authority license MGA/CRP/121/2006-05, issued in November 2020 and valid until March 2028, for customers outside GB, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Jersey and Gibraltar.
- Ireland, WH Ireland Limited holds sportsbook remote betting license GRAI-1096-RB-26-0001 from the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland; casino and poker operate under Gibraltar Remote Gaming License number 112.
The regulatory record is not spotless, and skipping that would be dishonest. In March 2023, three group businesses agreed to pay £19.2 million, £12.5 million from WHG (International), £3.7 million from Mr Green and £3 million from William Hill Organization, for social-responsibility and anti-money-laundering failures. The Gambling Commission, which called it the largest enforcement case in its history at that time, said it gave serious consideration to license suspension and cited cases including a customer allowed to spend £23,000 in 20 minutes and a £100,000 bet accepted against a £70,000 credit limit. Additional license conditions, including board-level oversight and an independent third-party audit, were imposed afterward.
Ownership sits with evoke plc, the London-listed group that renamed itself from 888 Holdings in May 2024, and the proposed Bally’s Intralot takeover agreed in June 2026 is targeted to complete in Q4 2026 or Q1 2027, subject to approvals. Britain is a market of 1,024 William Hill shops as of mid-2026, and every product in this review runs under the UKGC license held by WHG (International) Limited.

Customer support
Support runs through two channels: a 24/7 live chat, branded “Messaging” and accessed through “Message Us” at the bottom of williamhill.com, and the help center at help.williamhill.com, which holds the rules, how-to guides and a “Submit a request” contact form. There is no UK phone number published, which makes the round-the-clock chat the channel that matters most: betting questions rarely arrive at convenient times.
For questions about how markets settle or when free bets appear, the help center is usually the fastest first stop. For anything account-specific, a missing withdrawal, a settlement you want reviewed, chat is where an agent can look at your record, with the written form as a fallback for a paper trail.
The site also lists the National Gambling Helpline (0808 8020 133) for anyone who needs support with their gambling rather than with their account.

Responsible gambling tools
Five tools are available on the account: deposit limits, bet limits, time limits, a cool-off period and self-exclusion. The distinction between the last two matters. A cool-off is a short break during which the account is frozen; self-exclusion is the longer, formal commitment, and it is the right tool when a break needs to be enforced rather than intended.
Deposit, bet and time limits cap what you can put at risk and how long you spend on site. The advice here is boring and correct: set them before you need them, because limits are far easier to live with when they are part of how you bet from day one.
One number from the regulator’s 2023 enforcement case is worth repeating here, because it is the strongest argument for why these tools deserve scrutiny: 331 self-excluded customers were still able to gamble. The extra license conditions imposed after that, board-level oversight and an independent audit, exist precisely because protections have to work in practice, not just on paper. If betting stops feeling like entertainment, the account tools are the first step and independent support services are the second.
Who it’s for
William Hill fits bettors whose betting lives in football and horse racing, and who want the infrastructure around it to be dependable: deep menus on both sports, free streaming where eligible, Cash Out when you want out, and card withdrawals that can settle inside four hours.
It also fits anyone who wants a sportsbook and a casino under one login. The Vegas product shares the account, so a single wallet covers both sides of the brand.
It is a weaker fit for two groups. Bonus-first bettors will find bigger headline numbers at challenger brands, which run on aggressive acquisition offers, William Hill competes with boosts and 2 Up rather than headline size. And US readers are out of luck entirely. If you already hold an account, the R30 offer is not for you, but Acca Boost and 2 Up still apply.
Where it’s available
William Hill’s international business, owned by evoke plc, serves customers in the United Kingdom and Ireland, with the sportsbook, casino and live dealer products under one account. The wider footprint runs through more licenses: Gibraltar for GB, Jersey, Northern Ireland and Gibraltar customers, and a Malta Gaming Authority license held by William Hill Global PLC for the rest of the world, while Ireland adds GRAI license GRAI-1096-RB-26-0001 for WH Ireland Limited. The payments and the welcome offer in this review are the UK set in pounds.
One note for American readers, because the situation is unusual. William Hill left the US market in stages: Caesars Entertainment acquired the business in 2021 and rebranded it nationally to Caesars Sportsbook, so there has been no US-wide William Hill product since. What remains is Nevada, where William Hill-branded race and sports books still operate and the “William Hill Nevada” app (21-plus, Nevada only) remains live on US app stores under Caesars ownership. None of that connects to the UK book: williamhill.com does not accept US customers, and every rating, offer and payment detail in this review describes the UK and Ireland product.

Final verdict
William Hill’s pitch in 2026 is straightforward: a British institution, still fluent in the two sports that built it, football and racing, with a feature set (Acca Boost, Bet Builder, 2 Up, Cash Out, Betting TV streaming) that rewards regular bettors, and payouts that reach compatible cards in up to four hours.
The caveats are equally clear. The UK payment set is thinner than some rivals’, no Skrill, no second e-wallet beyond PayPal, there is a £3 monthly inactivity fee, support has no phone line, and the 2023 UKGC penalty is a genuine mark on the record. Add a takeover mid-flight and a shrinking retail estate, and this is not a brand standing still.
For UK and Irish bettors who want one well-regulated account for football and racing, though, the case stands on its own. Keep it in rotation for the sports it knows best, treat the boosts as a bonus on bets you would make anyway, and read the R30 terms before depositing: the free bets are a welcome, not a reason to bet. And for American readers: the only William Hill left on this side of the Atlantic is in Nevada. 18+, and the responsible gambling tools are there for a reason.
United States: regulation & availability
William Hill does not hold a licence in any US state.
Online casino gaming is legal in 7 states, Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and West Virginia, and legal sports betting spans 39 states plus DC. Minimum age is 21 in every legal casino state (18+ for certain products in a few states).
In the US, only play with platforms licensed in your state, and check the regulator's register before you deposit, offshore sites sit outside US consumer protections.
