Welcome package & terms

Portugal runs a four-stage welcome package worth up to €250. Stage one is the headline: deposit €10 and start with €30 of betting value, €20 in free bets plus 20 free spins. Stage two adds a 100% deposit match up to €100 and a €5 free bet; stage three brings 50 free spins and a €10 free bet; stage four closes the package with a refund-style sports offer worth up to €100 and 80 more free spins. All four stages must be completed within 20 days of activating the first one.

Registration itself carries a no-deposit reward, €10 in free bets or 100 casino free spins, and casino-first players can register with promo code CASINO for 100 no-deposit free spins (€0.10 each, valid three days) plus a 100% first-deposit bonus up to €200, wagered 20 times within 15 days.

The mechanics deserve a close read. Sports bonus funds clear only through bets that meet the offer’s minimum odds; SuperOdds and Cash Out bets never count toward that progress; and requesting a withdrawal cancels an active bonus. The casino and sportsbook bonuses, at least, can be used at the same time.

Ontario’s structure is a pick-one first-deposit bonus: 100% up to C$500 on the sportsbook, or up to C$1,500 on the casino. The sportsbook version carries a C$10 minimum deposit and requires you to wager the deposit plus the bonus five times over in Sportsbook and Virtual Sports, at odds of -200 (1.50) or higher; bets below that threshold, SuperOdds slips, cash-outs and contradictory bets are excluded. The clock is 30 days from activation, declining the offer is permanent, and a withdrawal before clearing cancels the bonus. The casino version wagers at 30 times, with video slots counting 100% and table and live games just 5%.

Payments & payouts

Portugal’s setup is built on local rails. Deposits run through MB WAY, Multibanco, cards, bank transfer, Skrill, Neteller, Paysafecard, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Revolut; withdrawals come back through MB WAY, bank transfer, cards, Skrill, Neteller, Paysafecard, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Licensing & safety

In Portugal, Betano operates under two SRIJ licenses: No. 018 for fixed-odds sports betting and No. 017 for online casino games of chance. The sports betting license was issued to Kaizen Gaming International Limited on April 8, 2019, and renewed in March 2025 for three more years, valid until April 7, 2028. The operating entity is Maltese, and the minimum playing age in Portugal is 18.

In Ontario, Betano is operated by Kaizen Gaming Canada Inc., registered with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and conducted and managed by iGaming Ontario. Access is restricted to players 19 and older who are physically located in Ontario; geolocation is enforced, and other provinces, British Columbia included, are not served. Brazil completes the picture: Betano held license No. 1 in the regulated market, and those authorizations are being extinguished under MP 1.394/2026.

The corporate record adds substance: Kaizen Gaming has been named Operator of the Year at the SBC Awards three years running, alongside EGR Operator of the Year 2025 and SBC Americas 2025 honors, and Betano has collected Portuguese consumer awards including Escolha do Consumidor and Prémio Cinco Estrelas. Betano’s Portuguese operation runs four support channels: live chat, where a virtual assistant handles the first line with human agents available on request; a phone support center; contact forms; and Facebook Messenger, with both the assistant and the human agents operating around the clock. The Ontario help center lists live chat and a contact form, backed by the same self-serve library.

That library is useful: it covers payments, bonus terms, verification and settlement rules for each market. For account or payment issues, chat is the fastest channel; for anything that needs documents or a paper trail, the contact forms are the route to use.

Final verdict

Betano has a strong claim to being the best football-first sportsbook available to bettors in Portugal and Ontario. The soccer book is deep, tied to the sport’s biggest properties, and wrapped in a modern in-play product with Same Game Parlay, Cash Out and streaming. The money side keeps pace: local rails, minute-level processing in Portugal, 24-hour processing and instant eCashout in Ontario, and no operator fees in either market. The apps, 4.71 on iOS in Portugal and 4.6 in Ontario, hold their own against any book in either market.

The caveats are geographic and structural. Brazil, once the flagship, no longer has a Betano product at all; the US is not licensed; and within the live markets everything is local, the Portugal and Ontario packages barely resemble each other, and the clearing rules (minimum odds, SuperOdds and Cash Out exclusions, withdrawal-cancels-bonus) deserve a close read before you opt in.

If you are in Portugal or Ontario and soccer matters to you, Betano belongs on your shortlist: test it against the two books you already use, on the fixtures you actually bet. If you are outside its licensed footprint, there is no workaround, and no reason to look for one.
