TheLotter

TheLotter buys official lottery tickets around the world on customers' behalf. How the service works, what it costs and where it is available.

Ticket purchasing service; not licensed in the UK

This brand is not licensed in the markets we cover (or only in part of them), so it has no Wayfinder Score. If you play there, you do not get the protections a local licence brings: limits, self-exclusion and a regulator to complain to.

How it works

TheLotter does not run draws. You choose a lottery, local agents buy an official ticket in the country concerned and store it, and you see a scan in your account. If the ticket wins, the prize is yours, with no commission taken on winnings. This differs from lottery betting sites, where no ticket is bought.

Tickets cost noticeably more than they would at the counter.

Where it stands

The international site holds no licence in the markets we cover (US, UK, Ireland, Spain, Germany, Portugal, South Africa and Ontario) and does not accept customers from the UK. In the US the company has run separate, state-specific services, which depend on each state's rules on ticket couriers.

Rules on buying foreign lottery tickets vary, so check the position where you live.

What to know

Large prizes usually have to be claimed in person in the country of the draw, and may be taxed there. Read how claims are handled before you buy.

We do not score ticket purchasing services.
