Licence and background
Placard is the sports betting product of Jogos Santa Casa, the gaming arm of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, which also runs Euromilhões and Totobola in Portugal. It operates under Portuguese law as part of the state games, and part of the proceeds funds social causes.
Players must be adults resident in Portugal.
What you get
Fixed-odds bets on football and other sports, sold at lottery retailers across the country and online. The offer is simpler than at the private online bookmakers licensed by the SRIJ.
Football, especially the Portuguese league, is at the centre.
Our take
A familiar, state-backed way to bet for players in Portugal, especially those who already use lottery shops. Bettors after wider markets will find more at the licensed online bookmakers.
