Licence and background
Paddy Power was created in 1988 from the merger of three Irish bookmakers. Its 2016 tie-up with Betfair formed the group now called Flutter Entertainment, the world's largest online betting company. The brand is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission and in Ireland, where it remains the best-known name on the high street.
UK customers are covered by GAMSTOP; Ireland has been setting up a new regulator and national exclusion register under its 2024 Gambling Regulation Act.
What you get
Football and racing are the core, with frequent price boosts, a strong bet builder and early cash-out. Paddy Power is known for paying out early on outcomes it considers settled and for refund offers around big races. Casino and games sit in the same account.
The app is one of the easier ones to navigate. Odds are competitive on headline events and average elsewhere.
Our take
A good first account for casual UK and Irish bettors: clear app, lively offers, solid safer-gambling tools. Serious punters may find stake limits applied sooner than at an exchange. It is not available in the US, where Flutter trades as FanDuel.
