Hellcase
Hellcase is a site where users pay to open cases of Counter-Strike skins. It is gambling without a licence, and it reaches under-18s.
Unlicensed skin gambling site
This brand is not licensed in the markets we cover (or only in part of them), so it has no Wayfinder Score. If you play there, you do not get the protections a local licence brings: limits, self-exclusion and a regulator to complain to.

How it works
On Hellcase you pay to open a virtual case and receive a random skin. Most of the time it is worth less than you paid, and now and then far more. Skins can be sold for real money on secondary markets, so the mechanism is the same as a game of chance.
The site is promoted by YouTubers and streamers, often with codes for free cases.
Licence status
Hellcase holds no gambling licence in the markets we cover (US, UK, Ireland, Spain, Germany, Portugal, South Africa and Ontario). In Great Britain, the Gambling Commission treats betting with items that can be cashed out as gambling that needs a licence. Valve, which runs Steam, forbids using its accounts for gambling.
Because sign-up runs through a Steam account, age limits are easy to get round.
Advice for parents
Check the purchase history on your child's Steam account and switch on Family View and Steam Guard. Explain that the wins shown in videos are frequently sponsored. In the UK, the National Gambling Helpline is free on 0808 8020 133.
