Licence and background
FanDuel started in 2009 as a daily fantasy sports company and moved into sports betting after the US Supreme Court struck down the federal ban in 2018. Flutter Entertainment, the group behind Paddy Power and Betfair, took control that year and now owns it outright. FanDuel is licensed separately in each state where it operates and in Ontario.
You must be physically inside a legal state to bet, and the app checks your location. The minimum age is 21 in most states.
What you get
The sportsbook is built around US sports, with same-game parlays, a deep player-prop menu and live betting on nearly every major league game. Online casino is offered in a handful of states. Horse racing runs through a separate app, and fantasy contests are available in most states.
Most promotions pay out in bonus bets, which return winnings but not the stake.
Our take
FanDuel has the smoothest app in the US market and prices that are often the best available on parlays. That strength is also the catch: parlays carry a higher margin than singles, and the app steers you towards them. It is not available in the UK or Europe, where Flutter uses other brands.
