Licence and background

Joe Coral started taking bets in 1926 and opened betting shops as soon as they became legal in 1961. The business merged with Ladbrokes in 2016, and both now belong to Entain. Coral operates under a UK Gambling Commission licence, with a shop estate that runs alongside the website and app.

The usual UK protections apply: identity checks, GAMSTOP self-exclusion and the stake limits on online slots.

What you get

Coral shares its platform with Ladbrokes, so the sportsbook, bet builder and racing coverage will feel familiar. Football and horse racing are the core, with racing concessions on UK and Irish meetings. The Connect card links shop and online accounts, so you can collect online winnings in cash over the counter.

Casino, bingo and poker run from the same wallet.

Our take

A reliable choice for British punters who bet on racing and football and like having a shop nearby. Prices are close to those at Ladbrokes, so there is little point in holding both for odds alone. Promotions for existing customers have been trimmed since the 2026 tax rise. Coral does not take customers outside the UK.
