Licence and background

bwin began in Austria in 1997 as betandwin and became one of the first big names in online betting, helped by shirt deals with clubs such as Real Madrid. It is now a core brand of Entain, the London-listed group behind Ladbrokes and Coral. bwin holds national licences in Germany, Spain and Portugal, among others.

In Great Britain Entain concentrates on Ladbrokes and Coral, and bwin is a continental brand first.

What you get

The sportsbook is deep: many markets per match, strong live betting and a tool for building your own bets. Casino and poker sit in the same account where local law allows them. In Germany the product follows the national rules, which means a monthly deposit limit across operators and restrictions on live markets.

The app is stable, though menus are crowded.

Our take

A complete product for regular bettors in Germany, Spain and Portugal, with prices that hold up on the major leagues. Beginners may find the interface heavy. Promotions vary a great deal by country because advertising rules differ.
