Licence and background
Betclic was founded in 2005 and is headquartered in Bordeaux. It holds national licences rather than relying on an offshore permit: SRIJ in Portugal, ANJ in France and the Ministry of Finance in Poland, among others. In April 2026 its parent Banijay completed the acquisition of Germany's Tipico, and the two now sit together in a division called Banijay Gaming.
Betclic does not hold a UK licence and does not take customers from Great Britain or the US.
What you get
In Portugal, the one market on our list where it operates, Betclic offers sports betting and a licensed casino in a single app, with MB Way and Multibanco payments. The product is built mobile-first: fast bet placement, a clean live section and a strong football offer, including the Portuguese league it sponsors.
In France the same brand is sports, racing and poker only, because online casino games are not legal there.
Our take
One of the more polished apps in continental Europe, from an operator with a clean licensing record. Depth of markets on minor sports is behind bet365. If you live in Portugal it belongs on your shortlist; elsewhere on our market list it is simply not available.
